Roll It Better In November

PUTTING COACHING If you’re reading this post then you’ve seen the ad for putting better in November, and the Unlimited Coaching probably caught your eye.  What is better putting worth to you but an even better question is, do you actually know you’re statistically “good” or not? What this program will help you do is self measure and self correct.  We’ll go through the ways that the ball can start off line, the ways that the ball doesn’t have the right speed, and the ways to practice this winter at home.  Combining state of the art technology in the […]

Winter Golf Coaching Program

I’ve had success coaching golfers using indoor studios for over 20 years, guided by the latest technology to help get results.  As the saying goes, “we are only as good as our best miss” this off-season individual coaching program is built around your needs, your goals and your time.  The history of The Program shows golfers improving their handicap by 30%, over the winter, without playing on the course.  This means that all facets of the game are evaluated and challenged so that when the opportunity to play returns in April, you’ll start with lower scores right away. […]

The 3 Questions

If you’ve ever played competitive sports, you go through a stage at one point of wondering “Is this for me?”  “What do I have to do here?”  “Why am I even here…” Regardless of what sport you’re playing it works the same and this will be about golf.  I recommend writing out your answers to these 3 questions and maybe even get them on the wall for people to see.  This is about YOU and if you can’t get it out and you just want to say “I dunno, I wanna hit bombs and stack money” then you better […]

putting mechanics part 1

As a Coach I’m fortunate to watch a lot of golf and a variety of different methods of getting the ball to roll on the green.  Today I’m intrigued by putter length as the 3 junior boys I’m watching have 3 drastically different lengths.  I’d say 30” 32” and 34.5”. The longest one sits a little toe up and the putter swings nicely The mid range one fits well for the 5’4” player who stands tall and let’s the spider hit the ball with a thump   The short putter is used by the tallest kid who also […]

Consistency

It’s the most common improvement golfers ask for when discussing a lesson program. “I just want to be more consistent.”   Let’s dig into this a little bit. con·sist·en·cy  1. conformity in the application of something, typically that which is necessary for the sake of logic, accuracy, or fairness. “the grading system is to be streamlined to ensure greater consistency” synonyms: evenness, steadiness, stability, constancy, regularity, uniformity, equilibrium, unity, orderliness, lack of change, lack of deviation; More 2. the way in which a substance, typically a liquid, holds together; thickness or viscosity. “the sauce has the consistency of creamed […]

Golf School – Practice for Performance

With the weather being a challenge this Spring, it has been important to focus on what needs to be done rather than what can be done.  It’s tough practicing short putts and little chips when its 8* and blowing sideways and then attempting to hit drivers in 4 layers of clothing but those are the things we need to work on now for those with qualifying events or just to be ready for the sunny season – if it ever arrives.  By placing a focus on the purpose of practice and executing a number of shots with a given […]

CAPTO CANADA

The CAPTO putting sensor is a small wifi connected device which lets the coach get to the nucleus of the putting stroke.  It provides a wealth of information, which as a progressive coach who likes to question why and how, I’ve learned so much about how people move the putter.  Before we even get to this though, I like to ask like player: What are you trying to do?  Break it down for me from how you aim your putter and set your alignments to what the putter needs to do to make a “good stroke”. CAPTO provides the […]

CAPTO Precision Putting Technology

MAY 1, 2018: I’ve always been keen on new technology especially when the data is unique and can help the average player and the newest putting sensor to the golf instruction market has been getting some hot press.  CAPTO, as its called, is a small lightweight device which sits about 45cm up from the heel of the putter on the back side of the shaft, out of the way of sight lines and light enough that it doesn’t the feel of the stroke. As you can see in this picture, the device sits below the shaft and when […]
